Our Re-Opening Plan

Posted : Jun-08-2021

On June 7, 2021, we received confirmation from the Archdiocese of Toronto that the provincial government has announced revisions to their reopening plan with regards to places of worship. Here are some of the highlights of these new regulations as they apply to our parish communities:

UPDATE: On Wednesday June 30, 2021, the province of Canada will be moving into stage 2 of the re-opening plan.

MASS

Effective on Wed. June 30th, Parishes will be allowed to open at 25% capacity.  This does not include the parish hall, such that our capacity restrictions are limited currently to 145 people at St. Ann's Parish.

There is no need to reserve your spot ahead of time.  Seats will be made available on a first come, first serve basis. Parishioners are reminded not to congregate in or around the church before or after services.

We will no longer have private prayer/Adoration from 10:00-11:00am and livestream 11:00am Mass on Sunday’s. Mass Schedule can be found here.

MEETINGS ON PARISH PROPERTY

No meetings are permitted to take place in the parish hall or other church spaces during this time.  The only exception would be essential services (e.g. food bank); but these gatherings would be limited still to ten people and require that all appropriate health and safety measures are in place (e.g. use of masks and hand sanitizer, physical distancing, etc.).

Virtual meetings should replace in-person meetings wherever possible.

PARISH OFFICE

The Archdiocese has advised that parish offices should remain closed to the public at this time, and be limited only to essential appointments only. St. Ann’s Office Vestibule is open on Tuesday & Thursday’s for certificates & mass card pick-ups. We continue to be available by phone or email from Monday – Friday.

DISPENSATION FROM OBLIGATION TO ATTEND SUNDAY MASS

The Archdiocese has directed that the dispensation from the Sunday Eucharist will continue at this time.  The elderly, those with compromised immune systems or other health conditions should be encouraged to exercise extreme caution about any outings, including attendance at church.

CURRENT LITURGICAL RESTRICTIONS REMAIN IN EFFECT, THIS INCLUDES:

·         Suspension of the communal distribution of the Precious Blood.

·         Holy Communion distributed in the hand only at this time.

·         No physical contact during the sign of peace.

·         Any worship aids must be one-time use only, disposed of after each service.
